3rd Maritime Golf Event 2017

The «Greek Maritime Golf Event», an initiative of P.G.A. Professionals Panos and Thanos Karantzias, is the ultimate golf tournament exclusively designated for distinguished members of the shipping community.

 

The Greek Maritime Golf Event dedicated exclusively to the executives of the Greek and International shipping community, was held with the great success on Saturday, September 23rd, 2017, at The Dunes Course in Costa Navarino.

23 teams with a total of 92 players, all of the leading shipping industry executives from Greece and abroad, met at the captivating Costa Navarino resort and took part in a competition amongst friends at the first 18-hole Signature Golf Course in Greece, The Dunes Course, enjoying unique golfing moments.

During the tournament, amateur players, all sports enthusiasts, competed on both team and individual levels, as the tournament program included individual competitions in the special categories Longest Drive and Closest to the Pin.

After completing the competition, the participants had the opportunity to exchange their impressions of the race, to comment on their performance and to discuss topical issues that concern the shipping industry at the reception that took place at Flame restaurant, Costa Navarino.

This year’s event, however, had a charity role too, with a series of actions such as additional shots (the Mulligan Shots) and the Roulette Hole that managed to raise the sum of 2.645 euros, supporting the admirable work of the “Captain Vasilis and Karmen Konstantakopoulos” foundation. charitable non-profit private foundation that aims to make the area o Messinia a model for sustainable development by implementing a series of actions (research, education, support) across a wide range of areas such as rural development, society, culture and the environment (https://www.cvf.gr/).

The event concluded with the Award Ceremony and the formal dinner that followed, during which the winners received their awards and celebrated their performances. From the groups that participated in 1st, 2nd, 3rd place in the ranking were the following:

1st Team Award:
Nishida Koutarou, Naruchika Kozuma, Yuji Ishimaru, Itasaka Takeshi.

2nd Team Award:
James Nairn, Glenn Kennedy, Michael Nairn, Peter Ritz.

3rd Team Award:
Ulf Skovli, Frank Montaque, Stamatis Chourdakis, Eugene Papadopoulos.

While for the best single’s performance the following were distinguished:


Longest Drive: Michalis Dalakouras

Closest to the Pin: Winton Porter

The idea and organization of the annual Greek Maritime Golf Event started from PGA professionals, Mr. Panos Karantzias and Thanos Karantzias in 2015 and continues ever since.

The “Greek Maritime Golf Event”, is an annual tournament –an institution that will be a pole of attraction and a constant meeting point for top golfers from Greek and international shipping- renews its appointment for 29-30 September 2018.
